Are You Living in Your Purpose?
Hi, friend in Christ!
Living a meaningful and purposeful life is a goal for many Christians. It feels more urgent now than ever as world leaders make decisions that do not seem to align with Messianic beliefs—to feed Jesus’ sheep (John 21:17), to care for the least of them (Matthew 25:40), and to walk humbly with your God (Micah 6:8).
Sadly, there are also stories of some parishioners experiencing church hurt as they struggle with the reality that their once-loved church family has prioritized the world over God’s Word.
Amid the chaos of the ungodly world and churches that follow culture instead of serving as the conscience of society, as Martin Luther King Jr. instructed, it’s no wonder that some conversations I’ve had with women wanting to make a difference struggle to discern God’s will for their lives.
I want to encourage both you and them to remain faithful to God. During uncertain times, we must cling to God all the more for guidance in our Christian walk. We only need to look to the Word of God. Colossians 3:23-24 says, “Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance. It is the Lord Christ whom you serve.”
These verses affirm that our purpose is grounded in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. To keep your purpose centered on Christ, incorporate these three steps into your daily devotional time.
1. Seek God
Matthew 6:33, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
2. Imitate God
Ephesians 5:1, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love, just as Christ also loved you.”
3. Embody the fruit of the Spirit
Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
When you seek and imitate God and embody the fruit of the Spirit, the Lord will work in your heart to reveal your Christ-centered purpose. Proverbs 16:3-4 says, “Commit your works to the Lord and your plans will be established. The Lord has made everything for its own purpose.”
By focusing on Jesus, you will gain a deeper understanding of God’s will for your life and move toward fulfilling your purpose.
May God keep you and bless you,
