He Changes Times and Seasons
It’s official: fall is here! Nearly half of all Americans proclaim fall as their favorite season. If you are one of them, I imagine you are checking off the reasons why you welcome the end of summer. Perhaps you are over the sweltering dog days of summer and welcome the cooler temperatures. Or, as some refer to it, football weather, which ushers in the start of college football! Some may profess their love of fun and festive fall decorations. Others look forward to the opportunity to don sweaters, insulated vests, and riding boots.

If you are like me, you welcome the kaleidoscope of burnt orange, dazzling reds, and mocha-brown leaves. Is anyone up for a color tour? I’ll drive!
As much as some of us welcome the change of the season, others look upon it with dread and may even suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD). It’s more common in the winter months when we go long stretches without seeing the sun, but it tends to start at the beginning of fall when our days are significantly shorter; in some areas, it is dark by 5:00 p.m. I’ll admit it’s not fun running errands in the dark.
Whether you welcome the changing season or it brings about a bit of dread, Daniel 2:20-21 reminds us of God’s infinite power. “Blessed be the name of God forever and ever; for wisdom and might are His; and He changes the times and the seasons.
God is in control, and no matter our viewpoint on fall, He is worthy of our praise and prayers.
May God keep you and bless you,
Tika
