TRUST God
Hi friend in Christ!
Over the past year, I spent many weekends at my favorite breakfast spot, praying and writing a mini-devotional. Today, I am excited to share that TRUST God: 5 Characteristics of Christian Living is now available on Amazon!
Writing this mini-devotional has been healing for my faith journey. In past newsletters, I shared my joy, challenges, adventures, prayers, and inspiring stories. So, it should come as no surprise that this month’s newsletter will also give you a glimpse into my life. Here goes! Some days, I was just downright weepy and emotionally exhausted. Instead of a cup that runneth over, my cup was empty. Honestly, there were days when I couldn’t find my cup. I sat, racking my brain, trying to recall when I last had it.
Over time, I chose to be kind to myself and to accept and acknowledge my weepy moments. This acceptance helped me to name my emotional state – burnout. As an ambitious woman, navigating a life of to-do lists, projects, and limited downtime, burnout hovered and taunted me with thoughts of impostor syndrome, loneliness, and other self-defeating thoughts. But, as a believer in Christ, I refused to let it win.
To win this battle, I prayed and studied God’s Word. And, in those quiet, vulnerable moments, God strengthened me to share my heart. My October 2023 newsletter, “Fill Your Horn with Oil,” focused on the pain I felt when unexpected life circumstances drastically changed my once-beloved holiday family traditions.
In June 2024, I experienced a Martha moment and titled my newsletter “But Only One Thing is Necessary.” The title reflected how I let my busyness distract me from sitting at Jesus’ feet. Then, in August 2024, I wrote, “Let Your Request Be Known,” sharing my desire for community and companionship to walk alongside me as my burden had become overwhelming.
In between writing newsletters, I recorded social media reels with similar themes of busyness, unexpected change, and burnout. Talk about a cry for help! In His infinite wisdom, our Heavenly Father led me to Psalm 121:1-2, “I will lift up my eyes to the mountains; from where shall my help come? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” Receiving the help I needed and filled with the love of Christ in my heart, I was determined to help others.
After various encounters and conversations, I realized that many of you have faced similar situations to those I shared. With this realization, I sat with God and wrote this devotional as much for myself as for you. With renewed strength in the Lord, my heart desired to invite you to join me on this healing journey and experience God’s transforming grace, just as I did.

TRUST God: 5 Characteristics of Christian Living is a biblical journey through the stories of Jonah, Gideon, Moses, Joseph, and the Woman at the Well. They faced battles of obstinacy, doubt, unexpected change, betrayal, and shame. Yet, God used them and transformed their lives.
The good news is that He will do the same for you. When life happens and you feel alone in your walk, TRUST God and practice the 5 Characteristics of Christian Living every day.
My prayer is that the devotionals will edify your soul, strengthen your faith, and inspire you to TRUST God to move miraculously in your life.

Tika your testimony here sounds like mine. The loneliness, crying etc. I’m still in the waiting phase of change, and I feel like there’s something missing. I think it’s something in my waiting. I’m not doing or should be doing. God bless you Tika. May His hand always be on you.
Talk to God and cry out to Him just as Jonah did while in the belly of the large fish. God will answer you and provide the direction you are looking for. May God keep you and bless you.
